Church website

Okay, here is the deal. Our church website is in pretty sad shape. The designer moved away some time ago. I am updating it. I have added a Google map, and put up Church newsletter articles and calendar by converting the Publisher files to PDFs.

Now, I don't really have design knowledge and have been approved to get pros to design it and I will maintain it. We use Godaddy as a host (set up before I took it over) and it is paid up for quite a while. The hosting is paid for directly to them as a contribution by a member, so I am not sure about changing hosts.

Anyhow, what I want is it to be designed for ease of updating, the ability to not only update, but to add pages as I see fit. Some content will not need to be changed much, while others will be weekly or monthly (think calendar, newsletter articles, nursery schedules etc). Preferably, some updating could be done by others (nursery schedule, etc) so that I don't have to be the middle man so much. Would CSS be the best course? Would those changing the content need the GoDaddy password, or could something be set up to allow those changes to be done with different passwords?

Also, what software would be needed by them and me? Even if I am the only one updating, I would prefer to use free software if I have to. Thanks.

When I did the same thing you're doing, I had to invest in Dreamweaver. Free software just lacks the editing and site managing abilities of DW.
