Having trouble linking image on site.

I am setting up a social part (subdomain) of my site that includes a graphic from another part of the site (main domain). Due to security circumstances, I know I cannot link from social.mysite.com to mysite.com/img/img.jpg. However, I found that I can use PHP with the absolute path to find that image's size (width & height) and get a successful read. However, I am still unable to actually show that image in the HTML's img src tag using the absolute path. Anybody know how I can easily circumvent the problem? Thanks. If it makes any difference or is not obvious, I'm using a Linux-based hosting solution for the site.

I'm not quite sure I am following this correctly... What type of "security circumstances" are NOT allowing you to link from a subdomain to a file located on the root domain in a folder?

I would honestly need to see the lines of code you are trying to use in order to make an appropriate assumption. You can copy and paste the snippets of code here by using the [CODE] BB code tags. Any sensitive links that you want to hide, like the domain, just change to example or domain.
