Java Compilers

Hi guys. I picked up my Java book the other day, blew off the dust and remember that I need to get a compiler. The first place I went was to Sun of course. Oncie I had it installed(not even working I might add)I found it very complicating for some reason, so I started thinking that there must be a easier one to use. Anyway, that is why I'm here. You guys almost always have a link for some great site/program that can be of use. Of course freeware and thanks in advance.

Actually, I don't think sun's is that complex... Just install the SDK and the make sure to do the environment varibles thing... Which OS's are you running? Because I have first hand experiance setting this up on both Windows 2000 and XP. To answer your question though, no I don't know of any better compilers.

I have installed SDK on Win98, 2K, and XP and have not had any problems. Exactly what difficulties are you having?

To be honest, I think it might have been the way they talked you through the setup process. Or maybe it was the fact I know nothing about DOS and they taked about it in there, and I just made it worse then it is. I have no idea. I think later today I will try to install it again.

download JCreator , it'll make things easier for you, and it's free.

You have to give the program your SDK path, currently you don't need the rest of the options.
