Unhappy

My audio dosen't work in my computer. I can't listen to music in my cd drive, radio, web pages or any other sounds. I have been trying everything. I re-installed my sound card (Creative Blaster 16PCI) but nothing has happen. I keep getting this little message: that my soundcard may be in use by other application. I desperately need my sound back, please help me!!
A million Thanks,
Vanessa.

This is a little out of the scope of this forum, which deals with writing programs. I'm moving it to PC Hardware, it seems to belong there more. Please follow up on this thread in PC Hardware, at http://www.pcmech.com/ubb/Forum5/HTML/003841.html

For CD audio, which is unrelated to normal wav audio, you need a cable that runs between the CD drive and the soundcard, is this hooked up?

Also, turn off all windows sounds, I had it once where the startup sound it tried to play opened the wave channel on the soundcard and never closed it (or even played anything to it) leaving me soundless.
