Failed Trying to create new ASP.NET Project
h3110.
Whenever I go to create a new ASP.NET Web App Project in VS.NET, I set the application to be created at 65.42.49.1 which is my IP address which is set to my webroot. For some reason "localhost" doesn't work for me at all. Anyway, I get an error message when I attempt to create the file at "65.42.49.1/test/WebApplication1." The error message is: "Unable to create Web project 'test/WebApplication'. Could not find a web server at '65.42.49.1' on port 80. Please check to make sure that the web server name is valid and your proxy settings are set correctly. If you are sure that everything is correct, the web server may be temporarily out of service." However if you type in the IP address my "Under Construction" page pops up without any problem. I am connected through DSL and I run IIS and SQL Server on my machine. My Operating System is Windows XP Pro and I use Visual Studio.NET Enterprise Architect. I'm not extrememly knowledgeable on networking or setting up a server so I really am not sure what other steps I should take. Any help is appreciated. Thank in advance. |

One more thing...
I accidently typed "http://65.42.49.1" in the window once and it somehow worked in creating the app in the webroot directory... but it's sorta inconvienient to have to work with all those files directly in the webroot. However I can create a file in a subdirectory... that's all I wanted to say :-D |

I guess the real problem I'm having is that I can only create an ASP.NET Web Application Project in the Web Root Directory. Shouldn't I be able to specify a subdirectory as well??? I also know that Visual Studio.NET names the project based on it's location, however having my IP address as the name of the app is a bit ridiculous... this also limits me to only be able to create a single project... Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong???
Should I try reinstalling IIS, or should I try reinstalling VS.NET? |

Well I reinstalled Windows... that seemed to work.
However I did get another error after that (no surprise) about VC not being available or not registered. I had to reinstall VS.NET and that solved my problem. |
