Database Program

I'm looking into making a database program. I need it to be able to input people's names and date of birth, so that I can view when people's birthdays are say within the next week or month. Is there anyone that can help me work this? I ain't got any idea about programing.

What are you going to be programming with? Visual Basic, Access, or what?

Planetsourcecode.com has some samples on data bases... You could probably look at one to see how it is done..

VB will provide a front end for the database, but where will the data actually be stored? Access, SQL Server, MySQL?

MySQL and PHP would make a good pair, especially if you want to be able to access it from the net. I don't know a whole lot of PHP, so somebody else would probably be able to tell you more.
