Hi wilbasket23,
I can answer only some of your questions: IIS is a web server developed by Microsoft, it comes with Win 2K and XP (not sure about other versions). IIS stands for Internet Information Service. Yes, if you have IIS installed, you can run ASP on a home machine, but first make sure that IIS comes with your version of Windows. |

PWS = Personal web server. It is designed for coding on your machine. With PWS you don't have to upload your code to test it. I use it here at work to mess around with.

With that said, if you have WinXP Pro and you want to know if it is installed, then go to Control Panel, and click on add/remove programs, and look for it under "add/remove windows components." I run IIS on my machine as I run a web site off of it that hosts forums (which is why I use IIS, for allowing use of ASP scripts) but beware that there are alot of security vulnerabilities with it. So be sure that you have a good firewall, and double check your permissions. jalbes |
