Hello,

Does anyone know any good book on Java? I do have a programming background and it's probably around an intermediate level for C; novice for FORTRAN, Pascal and Basic. What I plan to do is after I'm finished with C then I would like to learn Java on my own time. The biggest problem is finding a well written book. I don't want to buy a book and then find out it's crap and go out and spend more money.

Thanks

I stumbled across books published by WROX ("Programmer to Programmer") while on my current contracting gig. I have read their books on HTML, ASP, JavaScript, WAP/WML, and others and have yet to be disappointed.

Take a look over at http://www.wrox.com. They usually post sample chapters from their books so you can get a taste of what they're like.
