closing windows
is there anyway i can use the javascript window.close function to close a main window, without the browser popping up that message "the script running is trying to close the browser, continue yes/no?"

You can't close a window without the users approval that you didn't open. If you open a new window, then you can close that window without any warning. If you didn't open it, you will get the warning.
