Website design
Like many teenagers I suppose, I messed around with HTML etc when I was about 13, now 17 I've retained my basic HTML skills but would like to try and build a snazzy new website. Not for anything important really, just to see if I can do it
Are there any sites with examples of, for example, even the PCMech design at the moment (logo top left, links on top right), drop down link menus like Microsoft.com etc? Thanks for any help you can offer Jim

Try oswd.org , they have lots of good web designs to learn from, maybe you'll find something like M$ site design or something.

You might get some inspiration from Cool Home Pages . Keep in mind that somethings like MS drop down links are there because of content. If you don't have a lot of content, then you wouldn't need them.
People design differently. A good portion of good designers will build a template for their site in Photoshop and then chop up the pieces and build their pages. Another thing to keep in mind is that there is more than one browser and screen resolution out there and not everyone has high speed access. Many people build their page to look good on their computer and their resolution with their browser. Keep in mind that most people still use 800x600 resolution and are on a mix of different browsers which will render your pages differently. Also learn how to use stylesheets (CSS) and incorporate those into your site. |

I would check out www.lisaexplains.com it has some really cool tags you can use, and is designed by a kid, so it is easy to read. Also, try www.javascript.com to find some awsome special effects for your site. Both sites are free and require no membership.
