Question imbedding fonts?

Can you imbed fonts into a webpage so that special fonts are able to be viewed by anyone, even if they don't have them installed? Could this be done without having the user to download something? (ie - pop-up box: "do you want to download this...")

You could put it into an image then put the image where you want the text...this is how I have seen it done.

That was going to be my failsafe plan: making an image out of the text.

I wanted to see if I could embed a font, as it would save more time for me, rather than making a new graphic every time I needed to change the text.

You can do it, see embedding fonts.

It is one of those things that can be done but support is so poor that it is best not to.

No fonts cannot yet be embeded in html pages. As others have said make it to image...but difficult to do when you want all of the text with a certain font.

You can install the font for download on your web site with instructions as to where users can install it to their computer...and say "Best viewed using this font".

Mairving instructions is for embeding fonts to browsers.

Quote from Mairvings link....(note that there are other font formats, but because they can't yet be embedded into Web pages, we won't go into them here).

Thanks for the link mairving!

I read through it and it didn't seem like it would be too feasible or practical, as the support for it is not really there, as you saiid Mairving.

Images it is, I guess.
