browsers for previewing sites? confused

I'm wondering what browsers/versions I need to take a look at my sites in to get a sense of what compatibility there is. I was just going to install all of them on my machine for beta testing. Any ideas?

And is there anyway to look at macintosh compatibility -- or will a site that looks good in IE6 look the same in IE6 for Mac? And how should I deal with compatibility across screen sizes/resolutions?

Also, is there a good FAQ somewhere that talks about how to code for maximum cross-browser support?

This is confusing...

thanks

RD

I used to test in IE, Mozilla, a couple of versions of Opera, NS 4.7 & 6.0. I generally still do that but NS 4.7 doesn't support much CSS so I don't pay as much attention to it as I used to. You can also post your site for review in various forums like Webmaster-Forums or Sitepoint.
