I have to say, I really like it. I used Frontpage forever starting from 98 to 2000 and just couldn't stand using frontpage extensions and FP putting in code that wasn't necessary. So I tried out DreamweaverMX. I use it for all my WYSIWYG editing and seems to keep the code clean and simple. I recommend it

Hi,
It really is THE ONE to have. It's expensive, though you can pick it up cheaper on ebay if you keep your eyes open and are lucky. But is worth every penny (cent) The user interface is so quick and easy to use. It does amazing things, and the underlying code it writes is very clean. Basically you could end up with a site with down menus, rollovers, links ( you name it really) without having to know how to do the programming behind it. I'd give it 9.5 out of 10 |

Thanks!
I've used FP once or twice and yes, I was not too impressed with it. OK, now here is what I am planning to get: DreamWeaver MX Flash MX Fireworks MX (I think) Freehand Homesite I am getting it as a bundle from a graphics company that is closing down...but I don't know what Fireworks, Freehand and homesite are use for. Any idea? suggestions? Thanks again. |

Hi,
Fireworks is a graphics package, that intergrates seamlessly with Dreamweaver. It's very very good, though the real designer purists tend to think that photoshop is better. It's very close to that standard though. Freehand is another graphics package, it is basically used to draw and design things. I haven't used it much, I always use Fireworks. Homesite, I haven't used, but from what I understand is exactly like other wysiwyg web designing packages. i.e it is for people with no experience at all, that what to get a 'simple' homesite up and running. Sounds like you are going for the MX Studio. You will not be disappointed, it's awesome. Have fun |

maybe homesite isnt what it used to be, but when I used it a couple years ago, it was basically just a text editor with a few wizard addins for generating some code like image hotspots and such.

If you don't want a program like FrontPage or Dreamweaver you can use a program like 1stPage. Its kinds nice, and comes with a bunch of wizards and pre-built scripts.

I was digging around on the web the other day when I came across namo web editor 5.5
It's a fraction of the cost of MX and according to some reviews it is almost as good. Could be worth looking at if money is a bit tight. http://www.namo.com/products/webeditor/featuretour/

Homesite is not a WYSIWYG editor. It is for hand-coders with a lot of add-on features. I have used it for a few years among other editors like vim and notepad.
