NetBeans is a good free Java IDE. To find it, just do a Google search.

JCreator LE is what I use. It's interfaces is extremely similar to MS's Visual C++ IDE, so if you have used that the learning curve is very short. One of my friends told me he had stability issues with NetBeans, but I'm not sure if it was an isolated incident or not.
I've also looked at BlueJ, which has some nifty things to graphically map out classes and I think you can execute methods on their own independent of a program specifying the values for the arguments. But it has been a while since I looked at it, so who knows, you might find it useful. It's programmed in Java, which means you can run it on any platform, but its also kind of slow. |
