The key thing is not to use FP and you won't have as many errors to fix. None of the FP products write very clean code, not only is it full of errors, it is full of excess (code bloat) as well. There are certainly better choices out there.

Handcoding is always the cleanest, i recommend arachnophilia, which has some tools to help with coding tables, frames etc if you need some help.

If you are set on using a WYSIWYG editor, use dreamweaver. while not completely clean code, it is 100% better than FP in my experience. You can look at the code and understand what everything does, unlike FP most of the time.

I use both, dreamweaver to make the layouts and then i use aracnophilia to code in the rest.

One of the problems with FP is that it really doesn't care at all about validation. It also doesn't care much for cross-browser pages.

I personally use Allaire/Macromedia Homesite but it is for hand coding, no WYSIWYG. The best WYSIWYG HTML editor is no doubt Macromedia's Dreamweaver but it is quite expensive. Both do good jobs with validation and help to enforce good coding standards. It has been quite awhile since I have looked over some of the free editors out there so I don't know if I can give you any info on them.

Front Page is not that bad. Just try using the newer versions.
