.NET setup

Just got my Visual Studio .NET. I've never used any visual studio stuff before, or actually any MS development tools except back in the old DOS days. I can never understand what MS is saying. Please help with a stupid question.

When they are talking remote components setup, does this mean I can install that part on another of my systems and use it as the server to test with? I do all my work on this system, publish it to the remote (web server/host) system and debug? Or what?

If that is the case, is it better to have one of my other systems, say my raid server, as my remote system or should I install everything on this system? The raid server does backups and folding@home and that's it.

Thanks for any help!
