i am looking for a script that would allow me to log in to my website and see all of the files in a gui (explorer-like). i would also like to be able to upload files from this as well. i use to use one, but i cannot find it anymore. since i have the cheapest netfirms plan, it needs to be cgi/perl, as i don't have sql or php support. thanks in advance. all suggestions welcome

My hosting company offers cPanel on their servers, it does what you want and more, the problem is that it needs a program to be running on the server, if you are running your own server, that's not a problem, or you can see if your hosting company offers it or something similar.
I also googled for a file manger in PHP, and found this, never used it before though. Last edited by aym; 03-25-2004 at 12:28 PM. |

alright, well i shall give squirrel mail a try then. i had MailMan by Endymion up, but it could not connect to my server, "Permission Denied." i was not too sure if that was a permissions issue with the files and my server, or it just oculd not get into my email server. thanks

just looked at squirrel-mail, and it looks like it uses php. i need cgi because i don't have php support with my plan. i am using a 5/month netfirms plan that used to be my mom's company and she retired. so now i use it for space and testing. if i am just an idiot and squirrelmail is cgi, let me know, because it looks nice. but the readme said it used php4
thanks craig |

SquirrelMail requires PHP:
http://www.squirrelmail.org/wiki/Squ...ilRequirements So does Horde: http://www.horde.org/faq/admin/prereq/index.php#p2 While NeoMail is Perl: http://sourceforge.net/projects/neomail/ Does your host support Perl (as CGI scripts)? |

yea, they do, because i am using that file manager just fine. i have been putting all of my files in a cgi-bin folder which the host created.

Apache supports CGI by default, but PHP support requires installing PHP.

they allow php/mysql with their $10/month plan, and i have that for another webpage, but i don't want to put it on that one. i use this 5/month one for testing, and all of the stuff i want to try. maybe i will just have to break down and put it up on that one
thanks craig |
