IE Error ---"You are not authorized to view this page"

I get this all the time when I try to get to some sites to download stuff....
something in IE is blocking me from getting to sites.

I am on XP Pro SP1. IE 6. All updates have been downloaded.

ex: Could not download drivers, attached documents from hotmail, yahoo messenger etc.

I have disabled firewalls, set all IE settings to LOW, allowed all cookies...there must still be something out there that causes this...anyone seen this?

Thanks
K

Send a message via AIM to Designer Send a message via MSN to Designer
When IE6 is running click tools>internet options
then click on the content tab

make sure content advisor is disabled.

Who is your ISP? Could they be blocking the pages you are trying to see?

What is the type of site you're trying to see? what language is it in?

Some sites that are located in other countries will block IP addresses that are trying to access them from North America.

A reason for that could be, for example, that its some European site that provides "warez" or other copyrighted mateirals over which they might be sued.

I once wanted to access a Russian site like that but was told that Norht American Ips are banned.

Language --English.
ISP is not the issue. My older 98SE machine gets to these pages just fine.
These pages are not some restricted sites. MSN downloads....yahoo downloads etc are some of the common places I am going to and seeing issues with.

Maybe javascripting and java pages with applets and stuff that does not display properly and hence not letting me download???

OR some system admin stuff on XP that is causing the issue???

I dont know!

I had a problem like that when trying to view this site once. I ran Ad-Aware, cleaned everything out and it fixed my problem. Have you tried that?

I tried your links and got the same thing. A message box asking me where I want to save the files. Actually it isn't funny, especially when you are getting those error messages for no reason. It can be frustrating to say the least.

Have you tried: In IE Tools, Internet Options, Advanced and put a check in the following:

Install On Demand Internet Explorer

Install On Demand Other?

Give these a try and see what happens and let us know.

After getting similar errors with Netscape and Mozilla, I realized IE is not the issue. Neither are corrupt files or OS.

In Zone Alarm there is a setting for Mobile Code Control which was set to "ON". This was the issue.

I have been using ZA for so long and never had that setting checked --so I did not realize that could be it.

Anyway, thanks for the help.

One more reason not to install ZA 5.x.

GLC I too had similar problems with ZAPro 5.x. and reverted to previous version. About two weeks ago I decided to see if ZA had corrected the flaw....well sure enough the problem is fixed I've been using ZAPro 5.x. since the correction with no problems.
P.S. follow their instructions carefully before downloading version 5. also go into FAQ to see if any of those malfunctions have happened to you.
