It is kind of difficult to determine with the limited amount of information that you have given.
Things like: -What kind of file were you trying to save? -What program were you using? -Did you get a bluescreen and your computer quit working? -Where were you trying to save the file? -To a hard drive? -To a CD? -To a Network drive? -To a removable media (Zip, floppy, external HD)? -Have you had any other problems? -Is the computer working at all? |

I'm sorry....
1. Any program that I try to install or run like Adware gives me the error message. 2. It happens with all programs, even when I go to websites on the web. 3. I cannot print from the internet, but that because Java never installs completely because of data not saved due to the error code. 4. I get the error message when the computer tries to save data to the HD. 5. I have two CD drives and they are no longer working and when I try to reinstall the drivers because some of the data is lost when the computer is saving the installation data.. the CD drives do not work. 6. My computer is working but I cannot install programs with not issues. 7. I can save files to the C,D, & E drives without a problem..again its when the computer is saving to the HD during installation, web or scanning software. |

Have you put in the latest service pack for your OS (I believe SP3 & SP4 has fixes for write caching, but I am not certain if it will help your situation; but its worth a shot)? Also, check your motherboard site/chipset site for updates to any drivers (do you have a VIA chipset motherboard by any chance?).
Also check out: http://support.microsoft.com/default...roduct=win2000 for details on how to accurate debug the event ID. |
