Compaq Help

I have a Compaq that belongs to one of my clients who was
negligent in making her XP recovery diskette.
The Hard Drive has crashed so therefore drive d: is no longer
available to restore from.
She has a recovery cd but it is ony to restore from the
d: drive and to make the diskette.
So does this mean I have to order the EZ Recovery CD's
from Compaq to restore her XP factory settings or is there
another way to achieve this........

Thanks for some insight

Definately call Compaq and see what they can do for you, whether they guide you over the phone or ship you new CDs. Is it still under warranty? Good Luck!

Two options I can think of. One is order the restore disks. Usually about $20 for a set. Second is have the customer buy a real copy of XP Home from Newegg or ZipZoomFly for about $90. It's more bucks, but should they have problems again, a repair can be done without losing any data. Restore disks do as much harm as good because they reformat your hard drive and you start all over with the factory junk all reinstalled. Unlike 98, XP should have all the drivers you need built in. If it doesn't have all the drivers, we can help you find them.

Thanks ........

No its no longer under warranty..........WD stated that the
drive is only under warranty as long as Compaq warranties
it.......Compaq says its only under OEM warranty for one year
unless you buy the extended........which she didnt.

Sure wish she had made that diskette though

might have made it easier.......

Probably end up ordering the restore discs........

Thanks
