Hang
ok well a couple nights ago i was using the tv-out feature on my Geforce FX 5900 and when i closed the windvd it changed the color depth to 8 bit. and it wouldn't let me change my resolution, color depth, or anything that had to do with the display. so i restarted, and it fixed the display issues. but then i noticed that my mouse would hang when closing certain programs (i.e. Winamp, IE, Mozilla, etc.). and i've had this problem before, and it was really bad. so i ended up reformatting and it fixed it. but this time i did it and it didn't fix it. i have no clue why it's happening but it's very annoying.
if needed here are my specs. Asus P4P8X mother board Intel Pentium 4 2.0 GHz OC'ed to 2.67 Nvidia GeForce FX 5900 ultra Dual channel 1024mb memory Onboard sound Samsung 80 GB Hard Drive Windows xp Pro SP1 btw, it has nuthing to do with the overclocking. i've had it overclocked for awhile with no trouble. though it could be that the cpu is shot. i hope not, but there is that possibility. if anyone has any other ideas it would be much appreciated. |

If the CPU was shot, there would be a good chance it wouldn't be working at all.
It might be that your system has been clogged with spyware. Try downloading and running adaware and spybot and see if it picks up a few things.

well, i know it's not spyware, i've had adaware and spybot for a long time. they work well, i run them every other day. so it can't be spyware. and i figured the cpu wasn't shot, but if you'd seen what i've seen from this lil pos, then you might think there was something wrong with it to, lol. but, good news. i figured out the problem. it was Nvidia's new drivers. i forgot to restart after installing some drivers and then i installed the new graphics drivers. i did a repair install of windows and re-installed the drivers and it seems to be working fine now. thank you for your suggestion though
