Pissed Computer turns on by itself

My computer is booting up all by itself. I am running winxp pro sp1. If I disconnect the network cable (this is one of 3 comps sharing an internet connection through a router) it will stay off but as soon as I plug in the network cable it boots up. I have gone into the BIOS and disabled wake on ring/resume on LAN I belive it is called but comp still turns on. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance

If you've turned off all the 'wake on' features and it still does it, I'd try a bios update. Is there any new bios available for your board? Check the Gigabyte site. If none available, guess RMA is the only option.

Check your network adaptor configuration and disable wake on lan settings (if there are any) there too. Might be worth a try.

Edit: Sorry Red I must have started to post when you did.

Is there a wake on lan connection (cable) from the network adaptor to the motherboard, if so try removing it.

Hi Panama and thx for the quick response. One thing I didnt mention is that the computer in question is not the one that WAS showing in my signature and yes I do have the latest BIOS version. I have been running this computer for over a year, as a file server, and this would happen once in a while but it is to the point where I have to unplug the network cable everytime I shut it down

No apology needed, Designer. That's an idea worth checking on. This one's a bit of a stumper.
