HP restore from non-dos partition

Working on a Pavilion 750n that came into the shop with a deleted NTFS partition. The non-dos partition which i understand has the restore feature is still there.
How do i go about accessing that? Right now if i try to boot i get an error. i tried starting a xp home install just to set up the ntfs partition but maybe i aborted too soon. is there a way to access that restore without having the partition ready?
please help.
alan

well i tried the F10 during the HP Splash and it did not work. i think this was cause the original partition with the bad xp program was deleted. it must have been looking for something in that partition it could not find.
anyone have any ideas how this might have worked considering the partition was deleted?
