sluggish icons
what can be done to speed up the icons on the desktop.
specific problem is that windows boots up and the plain jane place holders for the icons are there but it takes an eternity for the actual colorful icon to appear. i removed many startup things from msconfig to see it it would make a difference but it did not seem to help. thanks, alan |

to defrag takes so darn long with xp and you don't have those cute squares to entertain you anymore like with 9x. the icon cache repair worked for me so i didn't have to do the defrag routine but i probably should do it. ok, i will do it.
thanks, alan |

Yeah, I can sympathise with you about defrag being so slow, but remember that the more often you do it the less time it takes.
