Reinstalling Windows Question
Ok, I am sure this has been asked before and I forgot what was the answer.
I want to reinstall windows on one of my partitions. I dont remember, however, which folders may remain untouched and which I have to save. Will desktop and everything on it be erased? or will it be saved? Will My Documents be erased or saved? Will other contents of that partition safe? ones that arent a part of Windows folder ? Thanks

If you have two partitions, and you remove the partition with the windows installation, then the other partition will not be touched.
If you reformat the partition, you will lose everything on that partition. Why do you want to reformat anyways? Are you experiencing any problems? |

If you do a over the top install (repair) only SP1 and updates will be lost. If you format and do a clean install all will be lost.

No, you misunderstand, I dont want to format that partition. Its fine. I just want to reinstall the windows on that partition. Reinstalling windows xp doesnt require formatting. I just wanted to do what Confused said, over the top installation. |
