Question Cant log off of windows XP! there is no option to log off!

when I click on start there is no option to log off so I have to shut down if I want to switch to another user on the computer. anyone know how to fix this?

Its a long shot, but have you done virus scans, and spyware scans. Is the welcome screen enabled?

Have you checked the User Accounts, it's in Control Panel, to see if something's been changed ?
You should have Fast User Switching enabled as well the Welcome screen that WTBF mentions.

As pam said, contol panel, users, change the way users log on and off, there is an option there. The welcome screen is the screen when you first turn on the computer, if its enabled there should be a list of account names that you can click on.

Are you signed on with an Admin account? How long has this been goin on? Maybe someone set up permissions to disable the log off option. Can you ctrl+alt+del and log off?

Question

well, this isnt my pc so I couldnt tell you about that, but this is just being used by a family and they said there is no log off option when you click on start. Im not sure about the ctrl alt del. I just find it wierd that log off isnt showing when they click start.
