Bizarre startup
I have winxp installed on an hp a520n. I recently installed an ATI 7500 card. The install went fine and all is well. But whenever i bootup, xp loads fine and the the C:\Program Files\ATI folder opens. I've looked in the msconfig\startup settings and nothing to do with that folder is checked! Has anyone else had that problem?
Thanks |

I don't quite know why its happening, have you tried closing it (File > Close) and then logging off/rebooting and returning back? Does it still persist?
I do have a solution that should prevent ANY open folders from reopenning Check out: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced\PersistBrowsers Change the value from 1 to 0 OR better yet in a folder window go to TOOLS > Folder Options > View tab > and Uncheck Restore previous folders at logon You can also try doing a few reboots with the thing unchecked; and then try re-enabling it and seeing. |

My son had this with a ATI. He would close it then play games untill it crashed and when he restarted it it would come back. All he needed was a good shutdown.
Is it crashing? If so close the folder then shut down and restart.
