OK, dont know if this has been discussed anywher else, ive just got my pc upgraded new processor, RAM, case & mobo. I have 2 hard disks - 1 is my c drive - almost excusively for apps and windows and my d drive - games, music, movies etc. and each of these had a partition to itself (cd drive is e:\ btw)
Ive had to re-install XP on c:\ but i also had to reformat it aswell for some reason - not a big problem most of my work and important .exe's are on d:\.. OK, fresh install of XP i go to look at my d: to sort my drivers out and lo and behold XP doesnt recocnise its own partitions!!! it says d: is unformatted which it isnt as it was all working flawlessly before. is there anyway to recover these partitions at all as i *really* dont want to lose over 100 gigs worth of stuff any help wld be greatly appreciated |

Are you sure you didn't accidentally format the D: drive? Was that drive NTFS or FAT32?
If you have another PC available, stick the D: drive in it and see if it can be read. |

If that drive is larger than 137 gigs, you must reinstall XP Service Pack 1 to be able to recognize the partitions, and you also need to reinstall your motherboard drivers.

yea, my first guess since you CANNOT simply browse drive D files then maybe you accidently did a quick format on it?
But theres a problem, if you did that it should at least open empty it shouldnt ask to reformat again. |
