Boot Disk Question

I'm building a computer for the first time and plan on putting XP Home on it. I already have a few computers running the same OS and have one reinstall CD from a Dell Inspiron Notebook. (the other comps didn't come with cd's) My question is, can I use the cd to install xp on the new computer by setting the cd drive as the boot drive in the BIOS setup or do I have to make the six floppy disk boot drive thing from the ms website and set the boot drive to the floppy drive. I heard somewhere that windows cd's from 3rd party comp manufacturers won't let you install windows onto another computer/another brand of computer. Thanks.

no
I don't belive it will work that way, the recover cd that you have will only work on the computer it came with.

you will need to purchace a new xp-home cd with a new liceness and keey to install on the new computer.
then yes place the cd in the cdrom drive and set the bios to boot with the cdrom drive and follow the steps on the screen.

do not try it with the recover cd.

Unhappy

Ok, that's kind of unfortunate though. I was hoping to not have to buy more stuff. But what about making a six-floppy boot disk? Is it the same deal?
