Fonts not working

On the same computer that I posted another thread about HERE I have a problem with the fonts. It has the usual range of fonts in the windows/fonts folder, but in both Word and Excel it has only a Courier font listed in the font dropdown menu.

Files that were previously created using fonts like Book Antiqua and Times New Roman etc. will still work for the most part- they display on the screen correctly and print out correctly most of the time. However, if I wanted to create something new I could only use the Courier font, and once in a while Word and Excel documents will print out in that font (Excel files will also print without borders on those occasions.)

Is there something I can do to force the system to realize it has those fonts?

I am not sure but I think TWEAKUI has a repair font function. If you do a search here for TWEAKUI you might read a thread with a similar problem. It think the function is for corrupted fonts but it might be worth a shot.
