transferring XP Home to a new hard drive

I bought some HP Pavillions last year for use at the school where I teach. They came with XP Home and a Samsung SpinPoint hard drive (5400 rmp, 2 mb buffer) and they were INCREDIBLY slow. Last week I put on a spare HD, installed XP Pro, and now it runs MUCH faster than before--but now I have to pay for an XP Pro license.

On the other hand, if I were to put XP Home on the replacement drive, would I still be obligated to buy a license for the machine since I put the OS on a new hard drive?

What if I cloned the slow HD to the faster one? would I need to buy a new license if I unintalled the OS on the slow drive?
