Can you boot in Safe Mode, F8 ?
If you can then go into Control Panel>Add/Remove and uninstall the latest XP updates. If you have a recent restore point you can also use that to get back up and running. |

I couldn't boot into to Windows at all. I ended up using the CD and doing a repair install.

Not sure. The first time I ran Windows Update I received an error that atapi.sys was in use by another program. I restarted the computer and it seemed to be working fine. There were 29 updates or downloads I needed, if I remember correctly. After the first restart it wouldn't boot anymore. I want to install the latest Nvidia chipset drivers but they say I need service pack 1. Any idea of what I did wrong or need to do?
TIA |

Yep, you need the service pack and not just for the chipset drivers.
Get it here : http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/d...1/default.mspx |
