Unhappy can't save as a gif?

I was trying to save some pics off the net as Gifs but the only option for saving is Bitmap? I have saved items as Jpeg and Gif in the past, I don't know what happened! I ran Spybot and Norton nothing changed.
Any idea what this might be or how to fix it

It might be that the pics you are trying to save are not gifs, but bmps. Right click on the image and click properties (or depending on the browser you're using, "image properties). What does it say the image is?

OK I went to a site to see, the image is a Jpeg but when I try to save it listed Bitmap as the only option?!?!? This is so frustrating. This happened once before and I have no idea how I fixed it!

When you try to save just put the extention you want at the end of the name ex:"picture.gif"

Almost always the problem is caused because your browser cache is full. Click Tools/Internet Options and under Temporary Internet Files, choose Delete Files. Close your browser and you should be able to save as .gif or .jpg.
