Service pack 2 is only out n BETA form. It is not a final version. I think you need to download servic pack 1 first but I'm not sure.

Hmmm... I didn't think of that. I still would think that he would have to have SP1 installed before installing SP2.

SP's are usually accumulative. I suspect SP2 would be no different.

Yep, exactly. With Win2k I just install SP4 after a fresh reinstall to get everything up to date. HTH

Only problems were with a few installers. They needed the compatibility mode to run. Except that, works fine

I am using xp pro sp2 rc2. No problems at all; it seems very stable.

You can just install sp2, there is no need to install sp1 first. Before you install any service pack, backup important info, delete all temp files, do a complete disk cleanup.

It seems that GENERALLY SP2 works pretty good. MickeySoft is using the public to shag out the bugs.

Installed XPSP2 two weeks ago, and has , to date, just worked
beautifully. Has put a crimp or two into my lady's AOL habit, but, that, too, has saved me time that I would have spent editing my registry after one of her AOL sessions. SO, it's been all good thus far...
