New Network Card

I have a Windows 98 SE computer, and have just recently installed a network card into it, after setting it up it was working fine, but every so often when I boot up I get the following message:

Network Adapter Sis 900 PCI....
is not working properly.

And asks to be set up again, btu the only way I could get round it was to boot up into safe mode once, and it would work.

thanks for any help.

I'll assume the Win98 machine isn't the one in your signature? [if it is, you might want the patch for >2ghz cpus, which can affect the network timings - this trouble usually shows up during installation, though, and with the "ndis" file = here's the link, should you need it http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;312108]

Otherwise, see if a visit to the website or your network card's manufacturer yields an updated driver you could try.

If you have both a network connector on your motherboard, and the add-in network card as well, you might want to update the drivers for both.

Best of luck
