Internet stooped working

Hi all
My windows 98 SE computer internet has stopped working.
It's like the system is corrupted.
It dials up and connects perfect.but i am unable to browse the internet or ping it.
I have installed nothing new on the computer, or changed any settings.it just stopped working.
so i brought it to work and put it on the network changed around the internet to work of the lan internet connection but its still the same.I can ping other computers on the network and the router.
Anyone have any idea's to avoid a reinstall

Do any error messages pop up when you go to browse and can't? If so, what do they say?

I had this problem on Win98, changing the protocools bound to the connection fixed the problem. But then it came back later. How long has it been since your last reformat? I find that on 98 systems after a year, sometimes less, its jsut better to back up and reformat because as soon as you fix one problem it comes back or a different one starts.

dondon----If you find out the problem please post back. I have the exact same problem as you. One day everything is fine and the next day my browser can not find the router. I realy hate to reinstall windows. I have alot of old stuff on here that I dont want to loose.

Wouldn't it be better to do an over-the-top install of Windows 98 instead of completely wiping everything? Just a thought
