Computer sounds weird

So my computer is only a few months old and when it loaded it used to sound normal(quiet loading noise). Now all of a sudden it got loud and sound like static.

Where is the noise coming from? If it is from the speakers, it's probably just a plug that is not fully inserted.

Run the drive manufacturer's diagnostics program. Sounds like the HD may be going.

Go to the drive manufacturer's website and find the diagnostics download for your drive. Normally you d/l to a floppy. Just follow the manufacturer's instructions.

Uh-huh, run some diagnostics on it first. If there's no change, check to make sure the HD is solidly connected up on the drive cable.

open the case, and when something loads, see if you can see the hard drive shaking just a bit. then(after destaticing yourself...destaticing?!??!) hold the hard drive in place and see if it still make the noise. make sure you dont have static when you touch it though....

ANYTIME a hard drive starts to make funny noises I would suggest backing up data and getting ready to replace it, if all the previous (loose connections, bad mounting etc.) have been eliminated.

unplug all fans except for CPU fan. and hold the hd when its loading and see if it still makes the noise. if it vibrates, either a screw is loose or its broken.
