Win98 problem

A friend of mine was on the computer and says at the dos prompt she typed del c:\windows
Now I can't get anything to work. Is there a way to fix this?

Hello and welcome to pcmech.

Well, AFAIK the DEL (delete) command didn't delete directories that were not empty. At least not with some kind of option.
But in your case it sounds like Windows got deleted. Boot from the CD into DOS mode and type DIR and check if the Windows directory is really gone.

If it's gone => Reinstall
