When I first got my PC, new, I partioned the 13 gig drive to c and D. That partition still exists.
I got the WD 40 gig drive as a present and had Best Buy put it in for "free". They were unable to get it to work so they removed it and notified me. I went throughthe WD site and it seemed pretty straight forward so I told them to physically install it and I would do the rest. I installed it as G. Not being sure of what was what I just have access to 32 gig. Which is ok the 7200 and the space are satisfactory. Now XP is running slow. I recently reinstalled it(not clean) with one hitch. I get a new hardware found (printer) message. I followed som Microsoft instructions to get rid of it but they didn't work. I seem to have two options. Both require me to migrate my C/D data and programs to G. This will enable me to reinstall XP home to a clean C or a clean NEW 40 GIG 7200 C that I am thinking of getting. My old C is slow but problemless but I'm wondering if I can depend on it to carry the load that the C drive requires. When I have a choice I load new software to G. Is it ok to do that? There have been no visable problems doing that. Will the software I migrate/move to G run on G? Will it run on C when I return it from G after a clean install? Will I have license problems with XP when it realizes I've replaced the C drive? I've tried to be clear. Thanks Mike
