This involves a fresh install of WinXP Pro SP-1. First there were the usual (for me) conflicts between Norton Systemworks (especially NAV) and the Audigy 2ZX software. After ironing that out, the other 30 programs were installed and last was Roxio Easy Media Creator 7. After installing that proggie, everytime its icon is clicked and the program starts, WinXP Installer attempts to install DAO.msi which I am guessing is Data Access Objects. From Goggling, I have found that this happens with some other software too. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Roxio and updated it to no avail and also did a Detect and Repair to Word 2003 as was suggested that would cause Windows to reinstall DAO which did not happen. While this problem is not damaging as far as I can tell, it IS aggravating. Any solutions that I should try so that WinXP stops trying to install DAO.msi which does not exist anywhere on my hard drives or on the Roxio install CDs??

DAO is disc at once. This is common on most cd burning programs. there is probally is an option to install it when you first try to install Roxio.

jgis19--if this really is Disk At Once, then there was no reference to it either in a custom install which I tried first nor in the express install which I tried later. I do have an email into Roxio tech support, but that will take days and I like to hear from others that actually experienced the problem or are aware of it. Thanks for your response.

MikeSp,It truly is disc at once,I belive you have too see if your burner supports it,you may have to download firmware from the manufacturers website to make it work.

jgis19--I really was familiar with Disk At Once from my trusty old 5.5 Nero. Guess I will go ahead and update the firmware on both the DVD-RW and the CD-RW. The WinXP Installer thinks the file in question is at: C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\_280
A dialog box that pops up as soon as I click on the Roxio icon indicates "Please wait while Windows configures DAO" and then a second dialog box pops up indicating that "The feature that you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable." and "Click OK to try again or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'DAO.msi' in the box below." For all I know, this could be another Norton conflict--this may be my last computer build using Norton--It took 3 hours to put the computer together and so far about 30 hours in chasing software conflicts. As usual, I turn off Norton when installing any software from a CD. MikeSp |

Mikesp, you gota love Norton,I personally would not have anything Symnantec on one of my builds, but that is just my opinion. Good luck with the firmware updates,I use Roxio and am very pleased with it,tried Nero several times but the interface is too complicated for me,but I am old and just wan't a simple program too backup my hard drive and burn some simple things.

A sincere thanks for all of the suggestions--it appears that I MAY have STUMBLED upon a resolution to this issue. I noticed that in the Control Panel-->Add or Remove Programs-->DAO (ATI ver. 3.5) and I removed it. WinXP no longers attempts to install DAO when I start Roxio. What this did to ATI's various programs that support my x800 Pro video card I have no idea. Now I can get back to the issue of NAV not getting along with Audigy 2ZX software.
