Ok guys, before I throw this thing in the pond I will post the problem to ya'll.
I am trying to build a system for my son and have the following installed so far. ASUS CUW-AW MOBO model 11A047B (I think-only #'s on board) with Intel 810 chipset, on-board sound & graphics Smart Modular Tech--combo sound/modem card model# 90079-2 10/100 card--HP P/N 5184-4725; MPX EN5038A1 OS--Windows 2000 Pro--NTFS Problems: 1. Installed 2000 pro with no problem. But could not get drivers for MOBO to install. error message "not valid win32 application" I downloaded drivers from driverguide.com. Also no sound(video seems fine) when CD connected to MOBO. 2. Installed conexantriptide90079.zip for modem/sound card. I got sound for com basics but no sound for modem, and modem will not connect. I checked the phone line and it has tone(this is the jack my home phone is connects to). I unchecked box to check for dialtone and then I got message "unable to connect". Well what do ya'll think. Bad modem maybe, or wrong drivers for both problems. Thanks in advance t_gray |

You may be in for a ride. Searching on the model number, it comes up as a very old HP card for Win95 / 98. When searching under Smart Modular I did not find a modem, but did find out they seem to have a lot of law suits against them. You may want to give HP's site a more in depth search, or contact them to see if they have 2K Pro drivers...

Thanks, I will keep looking, but if I don't find anything I will probably just buy a new one. I have a few others at work, I may see if the boss will let me have one. I have a really good HP system myself, I just want to get my son off mine and on to his own.
Thanks for the info on Smart. I'll keep that in mind if I when I check the ones at work or if I buy a new one. t_gray |
