Where to Download Complete Microsoft Upgrades

I have Windows 2000 Pro and I am sick and tired of having to download upgrades like DirectX 9 and IE 6 every time I reformat my drive. All Microsoft gives you on the download is like a 400k setup file. They don't seem to let you download and save the whole application. So every time you have to reformat, you have to spend hours and hours downloading 10 megs or more for every upgrade. And often times like right now the downloads won't even download. Can't they just let you download the whole application and save it so you don't have to spend hours and hours downloading every time you need it. Don't they realize that the whole world is not on DSL or Cable?

So does anyone know where I can download DirectX 9 and save it. I can't use DirectX 7 that comes with Windows 2000 because my video driver needs DirectX 8 or higher. And I think that is why my startup desktop window goes flakey all the time.

Try going to windows update and looking in the update catalog. Last time I checked you could download files to your hard drive for distrubution on a network and for installation at a later date.
