i backed up my whole hardrive on 14 dvd's using nero back-it-up.....

now i need to restore my files, i use nereo to restore the files, it asks me to show it the location of a "*.nbi" on the dvd.....there is no such file with that extention, nothing but ".dat" ".msg" files and a few other things but nothign this program is asking for.....i also believe it said it was on the last dvd, but its not on their either........

what the helll can i do? i have 14 dvds filled with around 50GB worth of my stuff andi cant seem to restore

please please someone help!

Nero uses it's own "zip" type file with an nbi extension, it doesn't sound like that's what you have on your DVD's, sounds like you have just ordinary files. If that's the case you will not be able to use the back up program to restore, you will have to do it manually.

I recently restored some data from cd's using backitup

Oddly the nbi file didn't appear on the first cd, but on the cd's following.

Try one of the different dvd's and go from there

Is the .nbi perhaps a hidden file? set your system to show hidden files to see if it shows up.

You may want to read this section : http://www.wellesley.edu/Computing/B...store_w2k.html

I admint restoring 14 DVDs worth of data manually is going to time consuming but I don't think you've got any choice other than drag and drop.
The XP compression utility should be able to unzip them once you've got them in the right places.
