Hi ppl,
I have this dialog box that keeps popping up when I log in. "servicemil.exe - Bad Image The application or DLL C:\Docu..................\Temp\kqal..tmp is not a valued windows. Please check this against your installation diskette." and another same message but with "lra.tmp" And i dont know if it is because of this problem that I cannot log off or shut down my compputer. The only way to shut down is by the power button of the keyboard or the CPU. I have scanned using Norton came up with few viruses and has been cleaned up. The problem still persists. Please help. Thx Last edited by aceMan; 07-06-2004 at 07:22 AM. |

Have you confirmed that you are virus free? Use http://housecall.antivirus.com/ as well.

Yes Statica,
I used Norton, AVG and HouseCall. All known viruses has been cleared. I even went thru the registry to delete away the entries of whatever name similar to the virus detected. Ofcourse ending the process first b4 deleting doing the above. For now I can only log off maybe twice. After that it gets stuck. I cant log off or shutdown. anything else I can do? |

The first thing to check is to see where servicemill.exe (which is not a windows application is being loaded up from). Did you check msconfig to make sure that you don't have any remanants of lines left by the virus? Secondly, it appears that it is addressing a file in your temp directory .. have you tried cleaning out the temp directory? Third, have you done a scan for spyware? Using Spybot or Ad Aware?
Btw .. what virus did you find on your computer before? |

Yes Statica,
I have checked the config. No suspicious entries linking to servicemil I have used spybot search & destroy and adaware to clean up, found few spyware. But seem to tracking cookies only. I have scanned using norton in safe mode in my win2k machine. Nope nothing could be found. That is after I have previously already deleted the servicemil. anywyay the virus found were: w32.spybot.worm w32.Randex.gen anything else i can do? any trojan scanners? thx VJ |
