Windows XP SP2

Will this only be available to legal copies of the OS? Or is it for everyone? What would happen to illegal copies upon using it?

M$ continued to ban XP CD-Keys, in XP SP2 there are more keys banned than in SP1. The keys banned were mostly used for pirated Windows I guess.
So if you have a pirated copy, XP SP2 will deny installation with an "Illegal Key" message. If you have a legal copy, no problem

Just looking at your sig:

I remember that you already listed the hardware you wanted to get .. and you asked when PCIe etc. will be available. Well, it's now available. Guess you have to reconsider the hardware for Black Betty

RJ,

If it IS a illegal copy, then will it like freeze the OS so it can't be used anymore??? And I am so close to my goal budget for the compuyter ($2000) but I am trying to raise $2500 so I can get a hot camera for my web photography. I don't think I'll be using PCIe now... unless I can find like a mobo, memory, vid card, all at the top and all compaitble with PCI e... I'm not using it.

Lol.. . like I said. . SP2 won't install. But why are you so interested ? As I said, it will install on a legal copy without problems. And if not, call Microsoft and complain. They help people with legal copies of Windows.

There are quite some mobos out there with PCI e. And graphics cards as well, like the ATI X800. Memory still uses DIMM not PCI-e.

Not all of them, but the X800 comes in both AGP and PCIe versions, so you just need to pick the one you want.
Don't know about the X800XT, though ... I just know that ATI released the X800 line for both AGP and PCIe.
