Morpheus causing major problems
I've got Morpheus 4.0.5 (getting 4.0.6 as we speak) and it's been causing a lot of grief. Ever since I first installed it the one thing I notice is how once I start using it, my internet slows down. Now, I'm using XP, and we all know that little icon thingy at the bottom that changes colours whenever data is being sent and recieved by your computer, right? Whenever I download anything with Morpheus, and then I close it, data continues to be sent to my computer. One time it carried on sending data to my computer for 3 hours straight! This event swallowed up my entire network's bandwidth. That's right, nobody had a working interent connection, it was dead. Shut down my computer, leave it for a bit, fire it up again, poof! everyone has internet and the network starts to move again. What in the world is going on? Also, lately, when I try downloading with Morpheus the speed never exceeds 1kb/s. Ever! And I have a 64K ISDN connection! Something's not right here.
SUMMARY :When I fire up and start downloading with Morpheus, my network gradually comes to a halt, along with the internet speed/connection. Even after closing Morpheus data continues to be sent to my computer. Download speeds never exceed 1kb/s, even with a normal download. Also, I rarely connect to 1 of maybe 30 users! Surely they're not all behind a firewall? Someone help me please! |

The thing with many P2P apps, is that even though you "close" them, by cliking the red "x" in the top right corner, they will go to the tray, and continue to run. And also, you should check the preferences because many times there will be an option to "run on startup", check to make sure this isn't checked if you don't want it to be running.
It would be a good idea to run spyware and AV checks as well because these things spread like crazy when installing and using P2P apps. |

I know all that, and I've made sure that the program isn't even showing up in the task manager, yet data continues to be sent. Lost packets, perhaps?
