windows xp wont start

when i turn on my laptop i get a memory test, i cancel this and have to start in safe mode, ive restored to a few days before problem started but it just says windows is starting up but just hangs there 4ever. i get a mesage asking to logon & password but it does'nt stop on long enough to do it. when i turn pc off its the same when i turn back on

use your XP cd and boot it from the CD and repair it...
