Question WinXP Install Errors

This is my current system:

CPU: AMD Athlon XP 2800+ Barton Core
Mainboard: DFI NFII Ultra-AL
Chipset: nForce2
Memory: 512MB PC3200 DDR SDRAM
HDD: Maxtor 80GB SATA-150 7200rpm
Optical: BenQ 4x DVD+RW
FDD: Sony 1.44MB generic floppy
Graphics: XFX GeForce MX4000 8x AGP
Case: Just 4 PC USA Mid-Tower Case with 425 watt PSU

Ok, think I got everything....Now for the problem.
I'm trying to install Microsoft Windows XP Professional OEM eddition on a fresh new computer. The install disk boots up fine and it goes through a hardware check and load all drives and such. It gets to a point where it says "Starting Windows..." then I get this nasty error message:

"A problem has been detected and Windows must shutdown to preven damage to your computer.

Sesssion3_Initialization_Failed"

"Technical Data:
Stop: 0x0000006F (0xC0000020, 0xC0000000, 0xC0000000, 0xC0000000)"

I've gotten the message 4 times now. What do I do? Thanks for your help.

Hello,

I ran into that same problem today on an HP Pavilion 7955. Samsung 40GB Drive, Toshiba DVD-ROM, CDD CD-RW. The Windows XP Home system was really messed up beyond expected recovery repair. I blew out both (Hidden HP and Standard) partitions using a great tool available free via search "Delpart.exe" just put it on to a system botting floppy run delpart.exe and your done. Anyway I bought a copy of WinXP Pro OEM for my customer and I kept getting the same error mention on this post "SESSION3_INITIALIZTION_FAILED". I check the BIOS verison that was upto date (11/22/2001), cable were all good, drive was not suffering from hardware issues nor RAM issues. Bottom line your post got me thinking... Since I was using the CD-RW all along...why not try the DVD-ROM instead...so I went into the BIOS to select that as the device to use instead of the CD-RW and BAM! all good now. So you guys may want to try just using another "CD/DVD" device all together. Suggestion, it has been my experience that a good portion of HP desktop suffer from absolutely !POOR! ventilation design, that is why lots of Hard Drive die inside these cases. Please do yourself a huge favor and buy a simple fan and rig it close to the hard drives to help cool them off a bit.

Thanks

WBPC

Heh, weird. I ripped out my OLD CD-ROM drive from my Compaq computer and used it for installation. I didn't get the error message. *laughs* Thanks for your help. ^_^
