Choosing which hard drive to boot?
I recently built a new computer. D875PBZ MB, 3.0GHz P4, a 120GB WD HD, and a 40GB Maxtor HD.
Before this new one, whenever I booted, a screen would come up and let me choose which hard drive to boot into. I was using the 120GB WD and an IBM 30GB. The 120GB WD has Windows XP PRO, the IBM 30GB had W98SE. It was convenient to boot into either one. Now with the new system, I'm still using the 120GB WD with XP PRO, with a new 40GB Maxtor with W98SE loaded on it. I've tried different jumper selections, but it will only boot into whatever drive is connected to the master plug at the end. I can see the Maxtor drive when I'm in XP. Maybe I'm not using the right combination of jumber settings. I have the WD drive jumpered as "master with slave". And I have the Maxtor drive jumpered as a slave. Both drives were bought OEM, I just have the diagrams drawn on the hard drive to go by. Any ideas? Is there something in the BIOS I need to do to make it give me the choice of which drive to boot into? Thanks, |
