There are a variety of settings you can tweak to keep your guests from poking around some settings. To help you better; it would be helpful if you told us the following
XP home or Pro?
Filesystem on your drives (FATx or NTFS)?
What do you want them to be able to use? (if there is anything specific other than internet)
What do you want to deny them access to? (if there is something real specific you want to be sure you dont allow)

Just set them up as a limited user...the can't install, no control panel, etc. The only abilities they have are to make changes that affect that user only, i.e. background, desktop layout, shortcuts, etc.

This will work for Home or Pro. It will allow them to run any program though that creates a folder in each users docs and settings, or if they have access to that folder. That complicates the situation, but basically, users with limited accounts don't have write access to any folder but their own in docs and settings, if that makes sense. I can explain more if you wish.
